Chevrolet Continues Overhaul of Car Portfolio with 2012 Sonic

Chevrolet is no longer concerned about defining their brand with ultra-rugged trucks and SUVs. In fact, they'd prefer not to. Over the past couple of years, the American automaker has been busy redefining themselves as industry experts on, fun-to-drive, fuel-efficient vehicles. And, can you blame them? We're certainly not going to see $2.00/gallon gas again, anytime soon. We'll be lucky if the marquees drop to $3.00 again.

The first vehicle demonstrating Chevrolet's initiative at better serving consumers was the Cruze, in 2010. It was a hit then, and continues to be a popular Chevy model in its second year.

Toward the end of 2011, we'll see another new Chevy model appear. It's dubbed 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, and Southworth Chevrolet can't wait to get our hands on it.

"The Sonic represents a new beginning for Chevrolet in the small car segment and so we felt it was time to give it a new name," says Chris Perry, VP U.S. Marketing, Chevrolet. "The new car is roomy, stylish and fun to drive, and Sonic is a youthful, energetic name that helps convey what this vehicle is all about."1

What makes the forthcoming 2012 Chevy Sonic even better is its very approachable price. Chevrolet indicates the starting price for the sedan variant will run at $15,395. And, the hatch variant at just $14,495, making it a very attainable alternative to the Fiesta and Fit.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic At a Glance

-    Fuel Economy (Highway): 40 MPG
-    10 Standard airbags
-    Standard air conditioning
-    Standard power door locks
-    Standard remote keyless entry
-    Standard 15-inch alloy wheels
